Pros
I like my co-workers. The facility is beautiful and I like the work. Watching patients get better throughout the rehabilitation process is very rewarding. Bonuses are offered when you pick up extra shifts if there is a call-off, and there is the opportunity for over-time pay since the company is always short staffed. The benefits are good. Health insurance starts on day one and there is company contribution matching for 401(k). It is a good place for a new nurse to learn the basics.
Cons
Patients are too acute to have 10:1 patient ratio, especially on day shift. The company mandates if there is a call-off and no one to cover the next shift. Day shift CNAs have bad attitudes and there is little support from the nurse manager. Also, the nurse manager does not have "thank you" as part of her vocabulary.
