Pros

1. Health benefits - literally the best I have ever had in my professional career 2. Work from home 3. Great people "in the trenches"

Cons

I was hired to help the Engineering side of Enel X, and was very excited by this opportunity... work for a growing green energy company! People that get hired here almost never leave! We have an extremely flexible work schedule! After a few months I realized the truth: if you live in the USA, you are a second-class citizen. This company wants to have as few American employees as possible, as evidenced by the recent layoff and treatment we received. Americans were forced to perform 24/7 on-call rotations while employees in other countries were not. Process changes would come down from Italy without any consultation with the affected teams. I had to log my worked hours in ADP and also in a spreadsheet that tracked what projects I spent my time on. Teams were over-analyzed in Jira, and any discrepancy was picked apart. This company is run by the PMO and by overzealous accountants that want to over-process everything and then reduce costs to the barest of minimums.

I was able to work Remotely and the team were so welcoming and understanding.

Cons

That I came in as a contractor rather than a full time employee under Enel. I only got paid hourly with no benefits
