Pros

The product is genuinely exceptional. That strength comes from its origins: it was created by a founder with real vision and, frankly, a level of technical and industry insight that set it apart from the start. There are still some very capable, thoughtful people in the business doing their best to maintain that standard. Flexible working arrangements are one of the few consistently positive aspects.

Cons

The gap between what the company builds and how it operates is hard to ignore. For a business centred on modeling and forecasting, the lack of foresight in its own growth strategy is baffling. Hiring ramped up aggressively post Blackstone & Vista ownership with little regard for actual business performance. HR leadership appeared to operate in isolation; driving headcount growth without sufficient alignment to revenue or sustainability. This has since resulted in avoidable layoffs which speaks for itself. Since the departure of the previous CFO, financial discipline and long-term planning seem to have weakened noticeably. The business has felt less anchored, with decisions appearing reactive rather than considered. The current [limited] executive team, including the CEO, feels increasingly distant, from customers, from the realities of the market, and from employees. Communication lacks clarity, and there’s little sense of a cohesive or credible direction. From a product standpoint, leadership is disconnected from actual user needs. There’s a push toward trend-led features rather than investing in the core functionality that built the product’s reputation. Culturally, concerns around consistency, favoritism, and professionalism in people/HR leadership have been raised by many. Trust in leadership is low, and that has a tangible impact on morale and retention. More broadly, there’s a sense that many of the strongest contributors have already left, and what remains is a business trying to sustain momentum and credibility without the leadership, talent or alignment it once had.

Pros

EE operates in a genuinely exciting space at the intersection of energy transition, AI-driven grid complexity, and advanced market simulation. PLEXOS and Adapt2 are highly credible, industry-respected platform with deep customer adoption. The company has strong domain expertise across product, solutions, and sales, with teams that understand energy markets at a high level. There is real autonomy for those who want to build and own outcomes, and performance is recognized. The culture is supportive, with leadership and HR demonstrating a strong commitment to employees, especially during critical moments.

Cons

As the US commercial organization continues to scale, there is an opportunity to further streamline sales processes and enhance cross-functional alignment to fully capitalize on market demand. Continued investment in data and platform capabilities will help meet evolving customer expectations and unlock additional growth.

Pros

The best PE investment team(s) in Blackstone and Vista supporting the business.

Cons

Legacy founder led leaders still in charge running it as a founder led company, as opposed to an Enterprise software business. The Chief People officer based in AU calls all the shots, and the CEO, who has very poor employee respect falls in line. The morale is toxic, as a result of these two legacy leaders that remain. Once Blackstone/Vista make the leadership change the business has a chance to recover, until then, it’s a sinking ship.
