Pros
New, energenic leadership team. Strong, defensible technology. It attracts strong engineers who want to develop hard tech. Global distributed team with opportunity for exposure to working closely with many different cultures. Smaller company with opportunities to lead and win if you are driven and dedicated.
Cons
Energy Recovery feels like a company that should be headquartered in another region (not the Bay Area). Many processes and strict in-office policies (as well as the in-office company culture) feel outdated. Many teams do not leverage modern tech stacks to achieve their objectives. There is great experience to be had here, but I would recommend it to someone who is ok spending a big chunk of that career in Energy Recovery or outside of the Bay Area. I struggle with thinking this is a place to add jet fuel to your career if you plan to stay in the Bay Area.
