Pros
- They are virtual company so you work from home. - The people working with are nice. But those people you don't with a lot.
Cons
SUMMARY: - This is not real "Financial/Accounting Controller" job, it is really like mix of staff accountant/junior finance analyst/executive assistant. EXTREMELY HIGH "CONTROLLER" TURNOVER (every 2-4 months): - Before me Entrada had no Accounting/Finance dept. and no full-time "Controller", I join company because it looked like good opportunity. They told me if I can do my job well, I will have the permanent position as full-time Controller of Entrada. - I do everything they ask me for and a lot more stuff too. They STILL not hire me to do full-time Controller job because my English not perfect. I don't talk to client, why does the English skill level matter? - Instead of me, they hire (I think) a 24 year old, just graduate college person, because he speak English perfect. - I say that Entrada's "Controller" position turnover is HIGH (2-4 months average) because new Controller after me left Company in 2 months! - I know he leaving in 2 months because I setup website updates on their "People" webpage (entrada website, then people) through my computer that tells me when the company add people and take off people. He is not on website anymore. So they hire him for 2 months only and now Entrada already is looking for another, new "Controller" that will work for maybe 2-4 months. MY ACTUAL WORK EXPERIENCE: - The people (woman owner and COO) you work close with are not good bosses work with. They always talk to me like with a bad attitude and don't listen to me and don't consider my opinion when I explain why I choose this way. - As Controller, I was not real "Financial Controller", I was just given that as title. I feel like I was administrative assistant to one owner of business. - Your boss who is the woman owner, you work with most times. She does not have finance background but still tell me how to do advanced accounting like recognize revenue, when she does not know ASC 606 or understand what ASC 606 means when we have to defer/recognize revenue. - The boss she NEVER take blame even when it is 100% her fault and she definitely know it. She always blame me, even when I told her before that this is not how we should do this. - Job description was not anything like what I doing. You are basically woman owner's assistant and do projects for her that she does not have time to do. - You still have to do all other basic task like whole company's invoicing, tracking invoice schedule, work with bookkeeper, and other admin thing that real Financial Controller never have to do. - You give me 15 hour per week maximum work time, even if my work time takes 25-30 hours. I was afraid to put the real time working because of the way the COO and woman owner talk to me about it. - There is no structure for Accounting monthly close & Financial Reporting! I try to ask them why and they say there are more important thing than that FINANCIAL REPORTING??! - I always get blame for thing that not my fault. I tell owner to tell me what to change and let me to make change but Owner make change herself anyway to the Excel file, then the formulas do not work and she blame me for it. - I was not even part of leadership team. Any "Controller" in small business should be on leadership team. - Other Owner (man) is nicer than woman owner, but you don't work with him that much. You work with woman owner and COO usually. - The COO just like as woman owner, does not give any respect when talk to me. I told them I'm immigrant and my English is not perfect but she still talk to me like I'm baby. - The COO ask me to do something she have no time to do and give me no help when I ask question to her. CONCLUSION: - Entrada not really looking for a real "Financial Controller" or "CFO", they looking for someone that will listen to woman owner's commands and do her special projects for her that she does not have time to do. - Once the person finish their project, Entrada either fire them or they leave. - ALL the "Controllers" have had the same kind of history with Entrada. - I do NOT recommend working here if you want job that is stable and can keep for long time because even if Entrada offer you high salary, everyone leave within 2-4 months. - Maybe apply here if you want to do a type of "contract work".
