Might be great in other areas of the company, but life in Product Development is pretty horrible - Anonymous employee Entrata Employee Review

Pros

They offered me a fair base salary. There are a few really great people that work here. Free Costco food every Monday (not a huge plus but nice nonetheless). Company lunches from time to time. Interesting culture in the company as a whole (flash-mobs, YouTube videos, etc.)

Cons

There is absolutely NO work/life balance in the development organization. Over half of the Product Development Managers, Product Managers, and Architects survive on 3-4 hours of sleep. The days are not only long but they run most of the day then start up again at 10PM to anywhere from midnight to 4AM. Very sub-par benefits (Health, Dental, Time Off accrual). CEO is far too "in the weeds" in the day to day operations on the software development side. He'll stay up all night and completely revamp core systems on a whim which causes havoc for everyone in the org. He "bootstraps" the company which translates to sharing hotel rooms with other guys when travelling, no corporate cards, no reimbursement for job related training, and the possibility of sleeping on the floor at an apartment in India on your required month long trip once per year. CEO also loves to have anyone and everyone genuflect him constantly so you end up with entry level employees with a huge voice in the company's direction. He needs to hire a CEO and change his title to Developer or Architect at best or get out of the code.

Pros

Great Culture and a product that actually works. They have raving fans as customers, which help a ton

Cons

The shift from bootstrap to VC funded came with the usual issues of turnover and culture shift

Pros

I have a pretty good group of team members. My mid-level supervisor is also easy to work with and supportive.

Cons

Entrata does not care about their employees, or even their products/services. This is made clear by insane workloads, exhausting meetings with escalated clients, and a “standard” 3% (if you are exceeding expectations and lucky) raise. I do moderately technical work that requires a decent amount of experience, as well as a client facing and internal leadership role, and I don’t make what is considered a “living wage” in Utah, even after years of working here. Execs seem to be having a great time partying at Summit with the most expensive celebrities they can book (Seinfeld, James Cordon, Tom Brady, Weezer…) but absolutely do not care about the uninvited staff who are working to support their client retention and their low-bar concept of product integrity.
