Pros

Offers a lot of perks and training for those willing to make a name for themselves in financial services. If you want to be an adviser one day, this is a fantastic place to join. They offer great support, there are a lot of really nice people working there and if you’re willing to put in the work then you’ll be quickly rewarded. They have a low turnover when it comes to FS people and its no surprise why, it is a fantastic place to grow a career.

Cons

However, if you work in one of the support teams (I.e. accounts, marketing, HR etc) you are probably going to be faced with a very different experience. This is because the company has grown significantly and doesn’t know how to handle it - unfortunately this means there is no real plan or purpose for anyone else who wants to grow their career there. Not to sling mud, but the company’s management are very out of touch and things are run similar to a tyranny. The company makes a lot of noice about embracing a great culture (and have rightly won a lot of awards for this) but they take this as ‘they can do no wrong’ and there are no conversations with senior management, you are simply told what to do with little to no empathy. I found my team with senior management quite difficult. It was common place for people to be told to get on with things (with little or no direction), be sworn at and bossed around in a manner more fitting of the 70s. My mental health suffered as a result of working at this place and I put the blame squarely at management and one or two key individuals.

Thank you for your review. It’s great that you appreciate that we have rightly won awards for our Culture, we work really hard to ensure that EQ is a consistently brilliant place to work. We, like everyone can always improve in small ways and no one is perfect so we’d like to take this opportunity to respond to your comments in a bit more detail if that’s ok! In response, we admit it, we aren’t for everyone! We always try to hire the very best and do a thorough job at interview stage. This has resulted in a fantastic team of high performing people in all areas of the business. As a team we are used to delivering amazing results for our staff and clients at a tempo that for some people can be a challenge. We know that feedback drives change and have a feedback culture so that everyone has the greatest opportunity to learn, get better and grow in their role. We also know that this feedback isn’t for everyone. In order to ensure that feedback is 2 way we survey the team, both internally and using external sources such as the Times 100. The results of The Times 100 come from an anonymous survey which means the team can respond honestly about all things Equilibrium. They survey things such as management, leadership, personal growth, fair deal, wellbeing, giving something back and the team. In each of these areas we have performed ahead of other 3* Best Small Companies to work for and have received a place in the Top 10 for the last three years. We take Mental Health and personal wellbeing extremely seriously. In order to support the mental and physical health of the team we encourage and support them by offering free counselling to address specific concerns but on a wider scale we offer mindfulness, meditation sessions and massage therapy, flexible start and finish times as well as over 40 days holiday per year so people are able to take breaks and have that all important work life balance. We have implemented various internal training initiatives for all areas of the team, not just those looking to become advisers. The Growth Zone and Academies are available to all staff who are ‘nailing their current job’ and want to start working on their next levels of learning. We don’t do formal career paths, and again we appreciate this doesn’t work for everyone, but at EQ it’s down to the individual to take personal responsibility for their own development. Our job as we see it is to provide the resource and opportunities for those who want to take advantage of them. We are very proud of the team at EQ. Everyone on the team exhibits commitment, integrity, a growth mindset and are in general good eggs and like we said, we know we aren't for everyone.

Pros

-They care about you as a person as well as your career/what you bring to the company. - Generous annual leave and flexible working pattern week to week. - You have the freedom to build your career the way you want, rather than having restrictive hoops to jump through.

Cons

There is no formal support or training, for sitting and passing exams, other than relying on the experience/goodwill of colleagues that have recently sat them. There is a wealth of experience to call upon though, so it never takes long to find someone.

Pros

I worked at Equilibrium for just over 7 years and I can honestly say it is the best place I have worked. There are so many pros that the company have but I think the team and the culture are the stand out. I have met some brilliant people there and made some friends for life. It is very much a collaborative environment where people are happy to support each other regardless of your role or department. The culture is incredible with a fun, modern and clean working environment. There is a pool table, dart board, arcade machine, free breakfast and healthy snacks and a great flexible working framework allowing colleagues to work from home or at the office. There are are staff events and social drinks throughout the year. Culture and social aspects aside Equilibrium also provided me with training and development since the day I arrived helping me to achieve my chartered status while developing my skills and responsibilities in my work. I feel I have developed so much in my time there and that is down to the incredible dedicated support provided to me by the company. If you are looking for a fun, collaborative and supportive working environment this is the place for you. You will receive a friendly welcome and work alongside an incredible group of talented, fun and friendly people.

Cons

I can't think of any. Equilibrium are always open to hearing feedback from staff and make every effort to improve the work environment as and when they can.
