Pros

The pay might be a dollar or so more than other companies. But that's because of their crazy markup.

Cons

This is not my first job and I'm not a 20 y.o complaining about meaningless things. I've had a fair share of service jobs and can say that this company represents a contemporary/US version of the caste system. On the surface, it seems that the company offers good benefit and all but deep down, it's like "this is ours or our top dollar paying customers'. Don't even think about anything that 'we' have. You just work for us." Work is hard but at the end of the day, you feel awful not because you're physically tired but because you feel like you've been slavering for the high and almighty company/owners/upper management. The philosophy of the company is so wrong in how they treat their employees and even customers (all they care about is picking out thieves among the customers)

Pros

The team itself was solid, and the store's a genuinely nice place to work day-to-day.

Cons

The compensation is just not aligned with what you're actually doing. You're running a shift, working register, dealing with customers, training people, managing closings - and all of it's on a cashier's wage. I actually did the math once and it came out to about $17/hour when you factor in everything. The store charges premium prices and does well financially, but shift leads don't see any of that reflected in their pay. That gap is unsustainable, and it's exactly why I left.
