Good work life balance, but lack of possibilities for advancement - Control Function Erste Group Employee Review

Pros

Depending on which area you work and very much dependent on the management of the Department you work. In the area where I worked there was a good chance to gain an overview of the functioning of the bank - due to the nature of the job and the relating duties & tasks (control function). Depending on your relationship with your manager you might have great training courses which is beneficial for professional growth. However, opportunity for professional growth largely depends on which area you work. Overall great work life balance.

Cons

Where I worked some colleagues seemed to be privileged over the others. Only those maintaining a very good relationship with the managers obtained the possibilities for training and professional development. In case of sharing the same values and approach as the management (in case of the department I worked at: sort of a socialist mentality) then better chances / prospect for advancement. Otherwise none. Lack of open mindedness. Socialist mentality of both the employees and management. Lack of opportunities for career advancement and promotion. Quality of management is often not convincing, often could be regarded as mediocre - their interest is in preserving the status quo, maintaining their position. Overall the bank possesses some of the negative features of large organizations including bureaucracy.

Pros

Generally friendly colleagues and a collaborative atmosphere. Offers a range of employee benefits, which add value to the overall compensation. Good work life balance.

Cons

Difficult to progress within the company, leading to feelings of stagnation. Raises are hard to come by, particularly in light of inflation, making it tough to maintain financial stability. Annual reviews often feel insufficient, with little feedback on how to improve or advance.
