Pros

We only worked short days, the wax is great, the hours per week are ideal.

Cons

One of the triangle owner groups values management over the staff that are actually client facing. They seemed to value their work/ life balance, and mental health way more than that of their waxers or gsa. We would overhear zoom calls of upper management preaching how to avoid burnout to the managers, without any of the same energy for their other staff. We couldn’t change our schedules, If we called out without a Dr. Note that could mean a write up, or we’re running late by 1 minute that could also mean a write up, on very first offenses. Management would get anniversary and birthday gifts while tenured employees of years beyond the very young manager don’t even get recognized for their tenure. Management-district and center manager were heard several times talking about employees, calling people entitled and just being gossipy. They will tell you you have an opportunity to make a ton of extra money through their bonus structure but because they have over hired and over saturated their own market it’s very hard to hit these goals. They now have an “non negotiable” list for sales so if you’re a sales person over an esthetician and are okay being very pushy, this is the place for you. Our center had wonderful owners who cared about the longevity of their waxers and made sure we were booked, always made bonuses, had great benefits, along with a great company culture. It completely changed once the acquisition took place. It’s a shame to see one of the busiest, oldest and most successful locations in the triangle lose so many waxers and clients.

Pros

Great coworkers, supportive team environment, loyal clients, and valuable opportunities to develop professional skills.

Cons

I’d like to raise some concerns about communication and fairness. We are asked to communicate everything, yet often our messages go unanswered or are met with a negative attitude. There is also a sense of favoritism in time-off approvals. Last-minute scheduling changes have disrupted my plans due to lack of notice. I’ve been incorrectly scheduled due to miscommunication, and I’ve had intense shifts without reasonable breaks. Additionally, our manager consistently arrives later than anyone, often when clients are waiting to pay, yet she gives attitude to others for minor delays. On top of that, product management is often last-minute. We run out of supplies like products, creams, or paper, and it only gets addressed when urgent, forcing us to scramble between rooms. I’m bringing these concerns forward because I hope for a more consistent, supportive, and equitable work environment for all of us.
