Pros

It is a very welcoming work environment, which is a tone that is set by the HR Directors, ownership and CFO. With the exception of a few, all employees are very nice. The company seems to be successful and stable- clients are happy with the work EvensonBest does, and the company works on some elite clients. Professional materials and the library resource sets EB apart from its competitors. Some surprise early dismissals are given here and there, but you are usually told with only a weeks’ notice, so you can’t plan for it.

Cons

EB works on extremely progressive clients, but EB is old-fashioned when it comes to employee well-being. For example, the amount of vacation days is 17 including your 5 government mandated sick days (so 12 vaca days). Yes- this is a normal entry-level amount of vacation time, and should be what new hires fresh out of college receive. But experienced project managers who have been there for 5 years receive this as well. And employees who have been there for 20 years only receive 22 vacation days including sick days. Where is the incentive to stay? The WFH policies need to be for everyone if you get your work done- for some new employees they work from home multiple times a week, and others with talent and seniority it is frowned upon. The competitors of EB offer summer Fridays , more relaxed WFH policies, and higher salaries which is why many good employees get the experience they need and then leave or are poached on LinkedIn. EB works on these progressive clients that promote employee well being- health programs, treadmill desks, Mother’s rooms, summer Fridays and relaxed “get your work done, we don’t care where you do it” WFH policies, but EB has not progressed with what technology allows our working generation.

Pros

They have a select few good employees. Your account is only as good as the Account Manager you have.

Cons

Management fails to recognize that times have evolved. They are notably slow in adopting new technology and are ineffective in training young, new employees. There are no standardized rules applicable to all, and older employees can do as they please.

Pros

-Great learning experience -Some flexibility in schedules and ability to come and go -Beautiful office location near Union Square -Overall, good people/ coworkers -Well respected in the NYC A&D community -Good upfront training for new hire -Great access to NY design events

Cons

-Can have incredibly long hours -What team you work on really changes processes, hours, responsibilities, and expectations (this is why my rating is a 3 instead of a 4) -Companywide processes are non-existent -Favoritism -Continued training is minimal -Vendors/ Rep schedules are too regimented so if you don’t catch them on their scheduled day/ time, you likely won’t reach them in person -You do the job of a superior before you’re promoted to that role, without any pay -Pay is acceptable, but raises and bonuses are not. These aren’t often addressed well until an employee has chosen to leave.
