Pros
- great teammates in engineering org - good tech, ability to quickly build and ship things to production and have impact - autonomy for teams to operate - WLB
Cons
- multiple rounds of huge layoffs - culture change with people leaving/laid off - distrust of leadership and direction of company My experience at Extend started out very well. People in the engineering organization were friendly, smart, and great to work with. The business was never really stable organizationally (maybe typical of a startup? Idk). There were constant re-orgs, HR processes changed every year, etc. I don't think we ever had the same performance review process twice, and we were supposed to have those every 6 months. The CEO used to address the company at a weekly all-hands meeting, but these meetings dropped off in the last year. The last year and a half really soured my experience. Multiple rounds of huge layoffs, messages by leadership that we're still on the right path (does this path include more layoffs?). If someone has a choice, I would caution against working here for the job security factor alone.
