Pros
A huge plethora of knowledge and experience within the confines of those cold, menacing walls....but they lack the 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper (a degree) to be taken seriously. Great people to work with that used to share a common goal. Our new, local management (plant manager specifically) gives me a glimmer of hope for the future because they show signs of caring and actually want to change the culture. I believe there is sincerity in the efforts for positive change now. There seems to be signs of trying to correct the negligence that has rotted this facility over the years...this gives people hope. Benefits seem to be good....but that is because a union was voted in (which shows how things went down in the past),
Cons
There is a clear lack of follow through with most ideas/plans. Very divided lines between management and hourly. Interdepartmental squabbles happen, but there was a time where your supervisor would "have your back" and "stick up" for his/her workers....that is completely gone. There is a severe lack of trust and "team effort". No upward movement for the "uneducated". Loyalty has fizzled.
