Pros

I've learned how to spot red flags

Cons

- Zero work life balance - No accountability from management for management / staffing failures. Engineers staffed on projects will get dressed down for management failures while putting 65+ hours a week in on their projects. - Everyone is burnt out. Managers do not communicate pertinent project information correctly due to also working crazy hours. Ultimately all blame falls on project engineers. - The rate at which this place burns through Project Engineer and lower levels is not good. I've worked under one manager who has successfully blamed their project shortfalls on two juniors who were then subsequently let go. - See points above, extremely toxic management culture as well as work culture.

management of the nyc office is beyond poor ex: we were pushed right up against a deadline due to management not accurately giving us deadline information from arch. when i asked management why this happened i was told i: 'need to learn to ask questions to find out information i dont know'. so im expected to ask if a deadline is changed when given no indication that it has, got it. when we got up against said deadline i made an engineering decision to change a safety factor from 0.2 to 0.4 because it was late, it was due the next day and the difference was 6 bolts in a column footing instead of 4. i was not scolded, i was not reprimanded, i was screamed at on a call. this role should come with a therapy stipend.
