Pros

Great teamwork atmosphere between stores. Insurance is good and not expensive. Hours are good. This company has a wonderful training program. If you are hired.. Train! It helps everyone! Pay is good.

Cons

District manager is inexperienced in "family". Too much micromanaging. This company should make it a policy to train ALL personal at THEIR facility so EVERYONE is working the "Fastenal way". The foundation of this company is wonderful! It's the arrogance in management that makes it difficult. This store is closing and this small area NEEDS this store here. Find ways to reduce overhead and reduce store size to keep this in the area. Only take a second to lose a customer. It's taken me an extreme amount to effort to mend bridges to get customers. Think about it.

Pros

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

Cons

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
