Pros

-A lot of really great people work here who are passionate about the product–which is unique and turns the traditional database on its head.

Cons

-This is not a place that hires smart people and gets out of their way. They do hire smart people, but then they preceded to micromanage them to the point that they leave. -The philosophy of work at Fauna is this: more, more, more and also faster, faster, faster. The math does not add up and you won't be able to feel proud about your work or accomplishments. Everyone is stretched so incredibly thin that it's just sad to observe at this point. -If you don't reside in the Pacific time zone, you will be on late-night/very inconvenient meetings that are sent very last minute (I can't even count the times that meetings were sent with 2 minutes notice before they were supposed to start) and claim to be "emergency" meetings when in fact they are just a result of poor planning/backpedaling. If you are a young family and say, need to pick your child up at daycare and don't have the luxury of having a stay-at-home partner this will 100% be an issue for you. At the same time, Fauna claims they want to attract a diverse workforce....it's just hypocritical and hot air at this point. -Zero comradery or focus on team building. They really do not care about you as a person.

Pros

I've really scratched the itch for greenfield work here. Lots of new features to build. Not nearly as much legacy software to maintain as you find at FAANG. Stack is pretty well modernized. Sprints are focused and fast-paced. Lots of POCs and iterations. Good teammates and autonomous culture. Product is good and has very supportive investors and board. Each and every person in the company has notable and displayed contributions. There's not a pressure to compete with each other, but a solid culture where everyone knows the work they do is required to keep the company going towards a profitable future. Sprint demos and all hands bring everyone together on the same page. Pretty amazing to see every teams' accomplishments so frequently due to the small company size.

Cons

Vision is lost sometimes. Some features are built but never move the needle. Enterprise customer focus can pull attention away from important developments that are needed for startup type companies. Teams are stretched thin due to low revenue and frugal phase of the company. Not hiring for growth at the moment.
