Pros

Good hours for a college student and great pay. On a nice day outside its nice driving the lift down the dock and feeling the cool breeze.

Cons

Equipment upkeep is pathetic. Doors on trailers have fallen off when you open them. Drivers complain about not having A/C in their trucks during summer and some say they don't have heat in their truck in the winter. Most lifts don't start and need jumped whether it's summer or winter. Very few working scales for outbound dock workers, masts on the lifts sometimes fall off of the lifts because of someone not reporting that they knocked it off. Very few supplies to do job right like straps and decking (boards and beams) we run or of boards 2/3 through the shift. High bills per hour quota. I I have been working there almost a year and have reached the quota maybe 7-8 times. I have stopped getting drinks and going to the restroom during my shift so I don't loose time that hurts my bill per hour. And some center need to know how to load a trailer so people at the other centers don't have to pick up thousands of pound of un secured freight when we start a trailer. I know there is transit damage but every trailer from 3 centers that I personally have unloaded trailers from consistently aren't doing what they should to keep freight secured. You would think with the amount of damages we record that those centers would have to retrain their dock workers.

Pros

Good pay ,benefits ,and people. Can move up/on to other positions. Education reimbursement too

Cons

Heavier boxes ,also awkward sizes that are large! Then step up into truck with those heavy n awkward boxes.12 hr days, not 10 as posted in job application box. Supposedly contracting out soon so be careful if choose this job.cant follow procedures for truck loading safety bc in reality it’s that’s not how it’s done on trucks bc everyday is a rush (they say it isn’t though)
