Pros

Plenty of hours when busy Driving a forklift for your shift so you don't really get tired out from walking around all day. Pay for full time was around $26/hour starting when I left with it increasing at regular intervals with the ending around $31 Start with 2 weeks paid vacation and if you stay long enough it increases to 4 weeks paid vacation. Easy work to do most workers and supervisors are friendly Overtime is paid daily as soon as you are over 8 hours Benefits are good. good 401k and health insurance.

Cons

when busy expect to work 60 hours a week, can last for weeks. typical full time shift i found to be around 10 hours. Warehouse has no heating or AC so you have to deal with the tough Midwest summer heat and the freezing winters. They don't often promote from within the warehouse often. new managers typically come from other FedEx freight warehouses across the country. the Edwardsville FEF was the biggest in the country when i left and the managers (and not the employees) pay depends on how big the warehouse is and how many doors they operate so managers try to get transferred there. Scheduling is based of seniority and a lot of the employees have been there for 5 years+ and many 10+. The main shift in called the Hub shift or around 10pm - 6am. So for the first 3-7 years you may be working night shift with no pay differential. After you reach your may pay after about 6 years there is no way to make more. after that your only 'raise' is a price of living increase which they adjust about once a year. and tends to be around 10-25 cents. A lot of the people who have been there for any length of time start to get lazy. they don't get off their forklift build a deck or strap and block their freight in order to properly and efficiently load a trailer. So I found myself often having to do other peoples work for them since there is little accountability for that kind of thing unless a supervisor directly sees it.
