Pros

You get to meet and work with a lot of intelligent people. Free lunches Tuesday - Thursday. Company pays for parking in Arlington if you are in the office 3+ days a week.

Cons

*Senior leadership - some are intelligent, and hands off. Most have huge egos for no good reason, and are going to eventually run the company into the ground. *Leadership says they are open to change (as a fast paced, start-up environment), but are unwilling to change decisions that are wasting a ton of money. *No training, whatsoever. I was promised thorough training while going through the hiring process. I spent the first month or with no direction in the office (had to be there 4 days a week), going through files in dropbox to try to understand the technology on my own. *Big egos in leadership slow down internal processes for no other reason, than just to flex their voice. *There is no loyalty to smart employees who have integrity and want to see the company succeed. *They will push out anyone who questions leadership, threatened by anyone that may seem smarter than them. *Being a female in this industry can be difficult. At other orgs, I went out of my way to introduce myself to any new employees, to make them feel comfortable. At Federated Wireless, female leadership would walk by my desk multiple times a day with dirty looks, and no one ever introduced themselves to me. I had to go out of my way to make an introduction. The environment is ANYTHING but warm. It is awkward, toxic and you will waste a lot of your precious time trying to like everyone here. *During FW's layoffs in May 2023, the severance was a joke. *Senior leadership might make it sound like they know what they are doing, but they are clueless as to the future of the company. If you can't pay your employees for the next few months, don't keep hiring new teams only to lay them off when money is too tight.

Pros

The people are smart, committed, and genuinely care about the impact of the work. Employees often have visibility into leadership, exposure across functions, and opportunities to take on responsibility beyond their formal role. Notably, average employee tenure is over five years, which speaks to long-term commitment to the business, the mission, and the vision. There’s also openness to new ideas and collaboration, especially for those who are proactive and adaptable.

Cons

Some of the criticism around pace, prioritization, and change is understandable. The company has gone through growth and market shifts, and processes haven’t always kept up. This can be challenging for those who prefer highly structured environments or clear answers at all times.

Pros

Federated Wireless has a clear and meaningful mission, and it’s energizing to work on problems that have a real impact on the wireless ecosystem. The team is incredibly smart, collaborative, energetic, and supportive, and there’s a strong sense of shared ownership in the work we do. I genuinely enjoy coming to work each day, not just because the work is interesting and creative, but because of the people and the mission. There’s room to think creatively, contribute ideas, and see them turn into real outcomes. Leadership has become more transparent and focused in recent years, and there’s been noticeable improvement in communication, processes, and long-term planning. For a smaller company, employees have real visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, which makes the work especially rewarding. No matter what level your job function is, you will always feel like a valued member of the team.

Cons

Like many companies, Federated Wireless went through a difficult period during COVID, which created some instability and stress that is reflected in older reviews. As a growing company, resources can still feel stretched at times, and priorities can shift quickly. That's just the nature of a smaller business. That said, there has been a clear and consistent effort to learn from past challenges and improve how teams are supported. Each month, I see visible progress in how the company operates. It’s still a small company, but it’s moving in a much more stable and positive direction.
