Pros
I really enjoyed working for First Steps (Walnut Creek Office). This was my first job out of college and I am so happy it was. I learned so many valuable lessons during my time here. All my supervisors and coworkers were very supportive in any area I needed help in. I always felt like I had a team to turn to and consult with. There are plenty of opportunities for learning and personal growth. There are consistent supervisions and time to ask questions or just observe. These supervisions were very helpful and insightful. I always felt like I was being built up. That is who First Steps is as a company. They are nourishing and caring both to employees and clients. This really stood out to me. I could tell each person at First Steps genuinely wants the best for the kiddos. This is how I knew this company was right for me. Of course another pro is being able to build those relationships with the kiddos. This was one of my favorite parts of this whole job. You have the opportunity to develop a bond and really make an impact on these kiddos lives. All in all, I could not recommend this job and company enough.
Cons
I do not really have any cons, but I do have some advice. Be open to learning and be patient with yourself. ABA is a unique job. There are guides and tools that we need and First Steps makes sure to provide, but each person has their own rhythm and way of working. It took me some time to finally learn what worked best for me as an instructor. Each child is unique too, so one technique may not always work for everyone. Nonetheless, First Steps was always there to guide me and help me find my own way.
