Pros

Flexible schedule. Not stuck in dull office environment working in a cubicle. Some creativity and variety in job. Ability to meet people in the community.

Cons

People are treated like garbage. Expect to be treated like you are an idiot with no respect. Questions will be asked, but if you give an idea or opinion management does not like, they will tear you apart in front of the team. The word humiliated comes to mind. There is no administrative support and employees are stretched thin. If you need something, you are on your own. There is no training. If sales go down ONE week, your pay gets cut. If something goes wrong, management does not help and leaves at the most crucial time when support is needed. Managers take vacation & disappear regularly, but complain to the team about how hard they work.

Pros

Little supervision Being in the know of what's happening in the community. Great co-workers

Cons

Unsupportive management Publisher meddles with editorial Paychecks are sometimes provided in hard copy or 2 installments if revenue is lacking There are no benefits. No 401k, no health insurance, nothing. Publisher and editorial cater to a former owner who now only works part time. Ad rates are inconsistent You have to pay for your own parking, unless you want to park in a lot that's half a mile away.
