Pros

Like others have said, you meet some interesting and dedicated co-workers. You can learn a lot of techniques and equipment related to food testing industry. When you put in quality work, you can actually feel like you are protecting America's food supply! If you are single or haven't started a family, you can travel with this company - multiple locations

Cons

*take these pearls of wisdom - I left this company in good standing - and I am still angry about it, even with the small positives I almost wish I had taken a different path in life - if you work here and survive you will likely emerge stronger with survivalist tendencies for your next job Management: don't ignore previous reviews from others who worked here - ineptitude, "cover up" mentality, back stabbing and very reactive - not proactive. The single worst thing about this place is them. It doesn't have to be this way, but cronyism and nepotism... the results are predictable. Hard work and technical knowledge are not rewarded and "suck-up" is promoted. People are viewed as entry level even after progressing through the ranks (surprise? When all the qualified people leave you), and a mentality of "we are competing with the big boys" while still running things like a small biz is laughable. Everyone puts on blinders of apathathy - long working hours are only made easier during periods of mgmt absence, let's work actually get done. No Marxisim concepts intended but this company does not really care for you!!! People either a) leave for better opportunities, b) quit out of frustration or sadly be fired because they don't tote the line c) sadly the most common choice "lifers" who stay...not because they are the best but because they may have psychological or monetary problems and have "no choice" - I am truly sorry for you *pro tip - do not become a lifer for this company, you will always be under payed for your skill set - even with San Antonio being a low end $ science pay market! There are other side effects but listing them will make it all sound crazy, and besides no one will believe you. Everything else has pretty much been said by others - no surprise! This likely has not, nor will change ever Long hours, try not to become salaried (abused), micromanaging mgmt (the kind that actually doesn't know the details your job entails - Shouldn't every assistant lab manager know what is a graduated cylinder is? pay pay pay... This place, if your stout enough to be a gladiator here is a STEPPING STONE! Please do not make the foolish mistake of the lifer

Pros

Some growth opportunities available depending on location / current lab needs.

Cons

Since it’s part of certified group, upper management does not understand the individual needs of each lab enough to effectively run things. Mandatory overtime at most locations. Not a lot of explanation of how to do certain things or why they are done. Poor wages and terrible health insurance.
