The highly technical people are generous with their time and genuinely interested in the company's performance and reputation and there is real talent in the workforce.
Cons
Mediocre management and excessive leadership turnover in some areas. Limited chance of anything other than advancement via battlefield promotion; also typical of tech, you are expected to bootstrap your career development. Extremely cliquish; it is easy to feel like you are out of the loop. Remote employees that can't travel at their own discretion struggle with visibility and access. It is difficult to feel positively about the direction of a company that goes public and the private again in a 30-month period.
