Pros

Nice office location and amenities. FR contract is strong relative to the industry, but is only beneficial to top producers. Professional Atmosphere. Friendly support staff. Long standing history in Minneapolis that only recently has begun to sour.

Cons

Low company values, very dog eat dog, everyone can be replaced. High pressure to sell friends and family. Unbalanced financial planning strategies, highly focused on insurance products and advises to stay away from investment and traditional financial products. Predatory hiring model that preys on recent grads, forces them to sell their friends and family insurance products, then ushers them out of the industry while the agency maintains management of financial products. Chop shop mentality. Poor training and on boarding process. Management expects you to begin selling from day one. Management has an extreme my way or the highway mentality. They will take anyone under the sun, no college no problem.

Pros

The people who have been working here are all amazing, they genuinely want to see you succeed. Every person I ever asked to help we with a task did everything in their power to help me learn and understand what I was having trouble with no questions asked. Most people here are some of the best at what they do. If you're seriously considering advising as a profession and want to work with business professionals and have a very professional workplace, this is where to work. Scott Wolfe is the man.

Cons

Nothing that isn't a con of being in the beginning stages of being an advisor anywhere else.

Pros

They have great training and support within the office. They have a long training program so I felt very educated and ready to make the career change. I had a business plan and I was excited about being an entrepreneur and starting my own business. My friends and family love me and the idea of working in a financial services field to help them. The know and like and trust me and of course I want to give them the best advise and the Mentors and partners support me and work with my client base. They have marketing support and specialists in the office as a resource to me and my clients. The compensation is the best plan that I have seen so far in the industry, and the renewals are very high.

Cons

It's running a business so its not a 9-5 job right off the bat. But I can go play golf with clients and have outdoor events during the day so that makes it fun and enjoyable. Some days I work longer then others, it's a serious business and my clients know that I have to put in the hours to give them the attention that they need and to grow my business.
