Pros

Mid and entry level staff are friendly. Great location if you work in Downtown Frederick. New libraries have been built and continue being built so system is growing. Community-focused and staff work hard to build and maintain partnerships in the community.

Cons

Experiencing growth, but not sure how to prepare for it. Not at all innovative in specific areas where other systems are ahead. Some staff that never move on due to benefits, lack of other local opportunities, and pensions stifle creativity and innovation. New leadership desperately needed. Current ED should have left years ago. Salaries not at all competitive, but that is because of local government. There's a clear fear of failure that is perpetuated by leadership.
