Pros
This is the most drama-free firm I have ever worked at. It is very low-key in that there are no fire drills or abusive screamers, or nasty emails, and the like. Right before I came, I read a vicious review here by recently departed attorney who most likely “needed to leave” and since then I see at least one review by an assistant that I suspect has been an HR problem, but my experience has been that this is a pleasant place to work so don’t let the negative reviews mislead you. No strong coercive personalities, very very transparent operation, and extremely light touch by management makes it a great refuge for those of us who have had actual trauma at other firms in the practice of law. The firm has a rule about being cooperative and collegial so people are very nice to one another and very supportive and being polite in the practice of law is a must. Lots of firm systems designed to foster collaboration. My spouse says I come home smiling for the first time in my career, and I feel it has had a healing effect on my practice to generally be somewhere where there is no tolerance for toxic bosses. Ben is thoughtful and supportive and open to new ideas. He takes the position that your career is what you make it. No one asked me to write this review, but my experience is that the disgruntled like to have a forum and that I wanted to correct the record. The associates are very nice although I don’t interact with them much. I have recruited people to come because I think it’s a good firm and has tons of work. It may be the case that outlying offices have different cultures but my office is great and everyone is very close and social. Also, cannot believe anyone would complain about an a 7.5 or 8 hour day!! The billable requirements are totally reasonable.
Cons
Nothing comes to mind in this regard.
