Pros

If you are desperate and/or can't pass a background check you can get hired and start quickly

Cons

Just to start- $14/hr base pay is lower than McDonald's. It's really hard work and the pay isn't competitive at all. It'll never feel worth what you put in. Literally anywhere else is better pay before I get into what's even worse about this place. This company starts their working relationship with you by stealing & wasting 1hr 30min or your time. The official hiring documents say to show up at 7am for training. You show up on time and wait around for over an hour before someone from HR shows up around 8:15am and says "training starts at 8:30am so we will be clocking you in at that time." This has been going on for a while, everyone who's worked there a while says the same happened to them. That basically shows how little they value the people who work for them. They owe everyone 1.5 hrs Labor is the only thing this company cuts. And they do it aggressively from the top down. If anything...sanitation should not be rushed and stressed to leave early every night. What's it going to take? Children, families getting sick? A listeria outbreak? All to save a bit on labor? If HEB really knew the working conditions and practices here Fresh Texas would definitely lose the contracts. You get hired as full time but actually get rushed everyday and maybe get 6hrs. Typically 28-30hrs a week. Facilities are in complete disrepair, falling apart. Everything painted is flaking and falling off constantly (super obvious that's not okay for a food production facility) floors are cracking, falling apart. Wall panels hang half off and food gets stuck inside. Report it, show managers, nothing gets fixed. All healthcode violations in food production facilities. You aren't given the equipment to do your job. Rarely new hoses get bought. Water pressure is 25% in some areas, there's 2 water pumps to solve this...1 has been broken forever. Mid-level management acts hopeless when we ask for anything. This place is a last resort, act of desperation to get some money coming in. But if you can get anything else..take it. Or keep applying elsewhere while you're here temporarily. You won't wanna stay long.
