Pros
1. Network (huge network of VCs, both current and prospective - everyone will help you years down the line if you ask and there's a whole FRV mafia across Canada (other places as well) but you know you'll always have someone to show you around a new city if you're there and grab coffee or help you with whatever down the line
2. Responsibility - you get to work with real companies and lead investments - unparalleled to any other club experience IMO
3. Ownership - you get exactly what you put into this and more responsibility if you perform well. hard work is recognized and rewarded.
Generally don't come across a lot of people who have poor FRV experiences, everyone really enjoys it but I've found that the select few who don't didn't put enough into it or were poor / mediocre performers.
Cons
1. Intense - the investment teams can be pretty intense. We can still have fun while working hard guys
2. Sometimes too process-driven - if you want to do something have to go through like 5+ people to get approval. In startups, speed is everything and if we're investing in them we should have the same sentiment
