Great place to learn a lot. - Depending on the group, there is room for independent work and also room to manage and direct. - Good place for hard-working individuals who appreciate systematic, continuous work.
Cons
- Lack of established career path. - Growth is not always merit-based, depends on connectivity or momentary need. - Management is reactive to employee loss. Extremely high turnover in higher levels (Directors, VPs). - Scientists are overworked (common for most CROs though), working overtime. Budgets are unpredictably pinched. Salespeople are former scientists, but untrained in sales management. - Processes are undefined. Often unclear. Constantly changing. - Lack of respect for teams, employee morale low, lack of employee appreciation, and missing internal communications. Diversity is minimal.
