Pros
Good culture of mentorship for less experienced engineers. It’s possible to learn a lot in a short time here and there are a wide variety of interesting problem areas to work on.
Cons
Compensation is poor and there is an (illegal) verbal policy instructing employees not to discuss pay. Raises and promotions are based on office politics and not on track record of performance/results, so there is very little room for meaningful growth. Employees are intimidated into accepting these practices as “normal”. Software engineering practices are very different from most of the industry. In some areas this is effective but a lot of it amounts to “dogma” and the opinions of leadership. These practices don’t transfer well to other organizations so it becomes a career risk past a certain point. Abysmal handling of COVID. Rampant misinformation and keeping employees in the dark. No policy in place to prevent and control outbreaks. Work flexibility/remote work is not permitted. Prepare to risk your health and the health of your family if you work here.
