Pros
I’ve been working at GEM Technologies for some time now, and I can say it’s been a great experience where I've grown and learned a lot. GEM provides opportunities for professional development. Whether it’s through different trainings, or challenging projects, they invest in their employees’ growth. Unlike some companies that micromanage every task, GEM Technologies allows you to work independently. They trust their employees to take ownership of their work, which fosters creativity and taking pride in your work. Working here has exposed me to a wide range of technologies. I've been able to work with new and exciting hardware and software solutions. One of the most interesting things about the job, is that it's one even non-technical employees can grow within. I've seen employees come in with little knowledge in the tech space, but then get familiar with technologies such as virtualization or firewalls. It's hard to be a part of the company and not learn new technologies as you'll be involved in meetings where different products and solutions are frequently discussed. I would say the company offers fair pay. I don't know what others make but I get the feeling that they get what they asked for when coming onboard. Also, the company does recognize and reward hard work by giving bonuses when you've had a really good year.
Cons
One thing I will say that may be seen as a con, you do have to be a hard worker. You're given ample time to ramp up, but once you're fully onboarded, you're expected to deliver. Since you're given freedom to work on your assigned tasks, it's up to you to figure out how to organize yourself so that you can complete assignments. If you need hand holding after being on the job for months, then it's probably not for you.
