Admirable mission. Talented and hardworking staff who are passionate about their work and the mission.

Cons

While the mission is meaningful, the organization faces significant operational challenges. Fundraising goals are often unclear and/or unrealistic given the lack of infrastructure, resources, systems, and staffing needed to support success, particularly in today's competitive and unpredictable funding environment. Reporting structures are unclear, with senior leadership frequently inserting themselves into processes, creating confusion around decision-making, accountability, and priorities. Expectations, KPIs, and success metrics are often unrealistic, unclear or change often, making it difficult to measure performance and achieve goals. Top leadership can often be dismissive and unprofessional in their interactions with staff, creating an environment where employees feel undervalued and disrespected.

I enjoyed working at Geo Academies. I very much felt at home. The pay was good and the work load was fair.

Lots of data meetings during planning periods

Pros

Provide great resources for teachers, you never have to come out of pocket for supplies (if requests are submitted in a timely fashion). Charter offers opportunities for teachers to “move up the educational ladder”.

Cons

As with any company or job, politics gets in the way of reaching goals.
