Pros
There really aren’t any pros. Perks vanished at GSL as ownership continued to take more and more away from the individuals who work there.
Cons
The culture of this company is beyond toxic. The leadership team takes no accountability for their poor decisions and multiple errors. Ownership likes to point fingers at everyone but themselves. Staff are treated like cattle and replaced like a pair of old socks. Raises aren’t earned at GSL, but often given if someone threatens to leave. Many of the longtime staff are miserable and the new ones quickly wonder what they have gotten themselves into. The smartest ones leave when they can. Upper management isn’t respected because they do not lead by example. The staff in the trenches get no credit and are not rewarded. They let go or lost many of key people who helped build GSL to what it is today, including for the entertainment/arenas division, as well as the hockey team. Ownership plays a large part in all of this. It will be no surprise if both Victoria and Kelowna push GSL Group out in the near future due to the horrible relationships GSL has built in both cities. Relationships with vendors are also terrible because the company often takes months to pay them. Many of the positive reviews you’ll find on Glassdoor are from HR representatives trying to increase the rating or it is from staff that they have coerced to do it. If you’re thinking of working there, consider this your warning not to.
