Pros
I've been working since I was a teen and have had a lot of jobs at a lot of companies. I've had several jobs I liked, but this is the only one I've actually loved and felt personally fulfilled by.
I was hired in November of 2020 and haven't had a moment of regret. The co-founders empower the leadership team to do their jobs and that makes it a million times easier for me to manage my team. Galactic Fed is a meritocracy at its core - hard work is actually recognized and rewarded. I'm surrounded by intelligent, kind people who are always willing to help with anything and who are genuinely happy to work here.
When you first start a job, it's easy to be excited and think that you can make a difference. After you've been there awhile, the cracks start to show, and if you're like me, you wait to see if those cracks get bigger. They inevitably always do, which has led to me moving on to another position. More than eighteen months in, there are still no cracks at Galactic Fed.
I'm extremely well-supported by the co-founders and other senior leadership, and challenges are met with an open mind and a willingness to help. My experience and opinion is valued, and I'm trusted to do what is best for my team and my department.
Job growth is excellent here, I've been promoted and have promoted several members of my team. Overall growth is extremely consistent, and the business is run very well in a scalable manner. Resources are available, whether it's tools or requesting headcount.
In addition to all of that, there's zero anxiety for me that I will ever need to return to an office, as the company was founded to be completely remote. I can live my life around my work, instead of the other way around. I can prioritize my mental and physical health in a way that I couldn't when I was expected to be in an office for 8+ hours, not including a commute. I literally can, and do, work from anywhere.
I've always worked hard at all of my jobs, but this is the first one where I feel as though there's a purpose to it. Instead of diminishing resources and increasing goals, I'm supported in the growth of my team and department, and have a clear path on what is expected of me.
I'm allowed to close my laptop at the end of the day and step away from it. There is no expectation that I have Slack or email notifications on my phone, and I have been able to take a week long vacation without my laptop and without checking in.
The work-life balance here actually exists, and I can honestly see myself being here for many years to come, and potentially even closing out my career here.
Cons
No cons to working at Galactic Fed whatsoever.
