Pros
Technically there was usually paycheque.
Cons
Zero respect for employees. Zero. Whether it's:
"managers"(who go home at 5 no matter what) just wasting your time making long days longer just because they can;
customers are allowed and even encouraged to demand more from drivers - for example it was considered my responsibility to clear snow for myself and the truck(!) at customers' businesses to be able to make deliveries. Really;
demands to keep doing meaningless work in extreme weather - For example, that photocopy paper HAS TO BE DELIVERED NOW IN THE BLIZZARD ON CLOSED ROADS TO A BUSINESS THAT WON'T BE OPEN TIL MONDAY ANYWAY!!!!!;
safety meetings that only consist of a manager saying "sign this paper saying we had a safety meeting";
FILTHY trucks to work with(including smokers smoking up every truck) and cleaning them is a reprimand for "wasting time";
Lots of lots of injuries, and managers and company bending over backwards to tell Health & Safety, Workers Comp, etc that they never happened, to protect themselves first and only, with no safety improvements to prevent further accidents;
Managers hired for being buddies with whomever hires for that role; the job title consisting of buddies hanging out all day while everyone else works harder and gets blamed for what doesn't get done;
If needed equipment or extreme weather prevents the job from being done, "just do it anyway";
Racist comments about applicants and employees who are not caucasian, said openly like it's just assumed we're all racist.
