Pros

Plenty of OT available, pay wasn't bad, work space was roomy enough to not feel squished even in cubicle land. There was always work to do.

Cons

The people in the Adjustment and Claims departments were atrocious. They made it a hostile environment while the manager allowed it. Coworkers were extremely loud and disruptive and made fun of disabled patients who were going to dialysis appointments across the street. There were also lots of racist remarks. They constantly and loudly talked trash on everyone else. It was very distracting. The one coworker was so hostile acting everyone was afraid to do anything about it. The manager condoned their behavior and even joined in. That group was allowed to be on their phones all day but anyone else got in trouble for it. It was double standards and cattiness all around. It made the job unbearable. The manager for that area was immature and clearly not qualified enough to hold that position. Adults were acting like teenagers. That kind of behavior is unacceptable to the work place and is an embarrassment to all of Geisinger.

Pros

Worked fully remote which worked for me. Great health benefits. Worked for health plan not clinical.

Cons

Limited opportunities for growth without a college degree. Typical corporate where they cut resources and make big demands. Many long time employees which I thought was a pro at first, but realized they are stuck in old ways and don’t really want to hear a fresh new perspective or even spend time developing new people. As someone with ambition and interest in contributing, I felt stuck, limited, and bored.
