Pros

They give you free fuel.

Cons

Totally incompetent shambles. From senior management all the way down to bottom nobody has a clue. Boss keeps his yes men at his side and they tickle his ego.

Pros

although i was only at generator power briefly i enjoyed my time there. my time at generator power was spent shadow-ing senior members of staff who taught me how to repair/service engines in generators. there were also other duties. i took away a lot from generator power, definitely a better understanding of what makes an engine work or not work and the importance of getting jobs done right. my manager was a nice bloke, very fair and supportive. ultimately i let myself down but he gave me every opportunity to grow. the rest of the team were great, our guy who ordered stuff was really helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. i can't speak for any other person who ordered things there. workplace culture was good, supportive, and everyone seemed to be looking out for each other. the hardest part was obviously the learning of new and complicated methods of fixing and repairing engines etc. the most enjoyable was knowing i had learnt and applied my skills to fixing an engine.

Cons

takes ages to complete apprenticeship

Pros

Received a full induction on day 1 with consistent and available support in my role when required. Friendly, approachable and supportive management team who are directly involved with the day to day operations of the business and go out of their way to ensure they know every employee in the business. It's nice to have that culture within a large scale business as it makes you feel included and more than "just a number". Internal promotions and career progressions are available and actively encouraged within teams. Lunch breaks are respected and employees are allowed regular breaks - kitchen refreshments are provided by the business.

Cons

Their HQ in Normanton isn't brand spanking new and is showing signs of its age but it is well maintained with a contracted handy-man available at all times. People need to be mindful that this is first and foremost a hands-on engineering firm with depots and yards on site which service and maintain the diesel generators, therefore the nature of the business does sometimes mean it gets mucky in communal areas but this is perfectly acceptable and it is cleaned daily.
