Pros

Initially the company offered two work-from-home (WFH) days per week, health insurance that includes dental and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) benefits, and the chance to explore current technology trends in teaching and learning. However, to cut cost some of these benefits have been reduced or even removed in upcoming quarters.

Cons

Upper management tends to prioritize launching new projects and products quickly to keep up with industry trends, often without sufficient long-term planning. This results in decisions that are largely reactive, with little emphasis on sustainable growth. Unfortunately, employee feedback from those directly involved in day-to-day operations is often overlooked, which can lead to preventable issues and inefficiencies. When these rushed initiatives don’t go as planned, management tends to withhold negative financial updates until the last minute, leaving employees with a misleading sense of stability. As a result, the company had implemented several rounds of layoffs. Experienced staff were sometimes replaced with less experienced hires to manage budget constraints. Even strong performance and contributions don’t guarantee job security here. There is also a sense of irony in management’s concerns about employee loyalty, given the ongoing cycle of layoffs and instability, which has led many employees to seek more stable opportunities. With fewer team members, remaining staff often work at full capacity, and finding coverage for time off can be challenging. Additionally, some managers set inconsistent expectations, holding certain employees to different standards while overlooking similar issues with others. This can impact morale, particularly when managers fail to follow their own expectations or serve as role models for the behaviors they want to see.
