Cons

While it might be 2021, when it comes to gender/racial diversity and fair treatment of their employees (especially their female contract workers) GeoQuant is a company firmly entrenched in the past. It is therefore with a heavy heart that I share the following observations and implore potential clients and investors to consider these data points when determining if this is the type of company you wish to support financially. * Lack of Diversity: Per their own website, Geoquant has a total of 2 female FT employees and 8 FT male employees. There does not appear to be a single BIPOC listed on their website as a FT employee. However, the firm’s dirty little secret is that they do have other females whose work they very much benefit from. Those females (who hold Masters and PhD degrees and in some cases have covered their regions for the CIA), are overwhelmingly hired into PT slots with no worker protections and extremely one-sided contracts, unlike their FT male counterparts. * This brings me to my second point—the contracts. Geoquant has repeatedly sought to save money by cutting the pay of its female PT analysts. In one particular case, Geoquant management asserted that due to budgetary constraints they were going to cut a PT female analyst’s monthly pay by nearly 40%. Yet, that same email talking about how moving forward Geoquant lacked the funds to pay the female employee her full pay informed her that Geoquant had just hired yet another FT male employee. When the female analyst indicated that she was willing to accept the MASSIVE pay cut if Geoquant would provide contracts that gave some additional protections to the other PT workers, so they would not be blindsided with similar pay cuts, she was terminated and her pay for her final month of Nov was withheld entirely. Geoquant has STILL not paid her for the month of Nov. This is a company that repeatedly marginalizes it’s non-white, non-male employees including via pay discrimination and bullying tactics. So again I ask, is this something that in 2021 you wish to be affiliated with?
