Pros

Friendly people, at first. However employees seem frustrated. And pretty soon you realize everyone is just looking out for themselves. All employees at staff level seem frustrated about lack of advancement. Employee resource groups, mentoring programs, daycare, gym and cafeteria are nice perks and help you sell your brand and company to new employees. However, these perks soon start to fade away when you start to understand the company's culture. Southern. Conservative. This is a great place for mid-career level managers who want somewhat of a family-life, not someone early in their career or a recent college graduate. Do not come here if you want a real career, want to grow and develop, and eventually hold a leadership position.

Cons

Working hard and doing good work does NOT get you noticed in this company. Here it is all about who you know, who you are related to, who you like look, who you dress like, who you talk and behave like, who knows you and who's neighbor you are. It is all about favoritism. Diversity and minorities glaringly stand out, as do female managers. Work-life balance is a sham once you become a manager. Expect to work long hours if you haven't "done your time" here or achieved 10+ "years of service." How long does it take an employee to "prove" oneself in this Company? Forever! Pay is average, compared to other large companies in Atlanta. Benefits are slightly better, but not worth sacrificing your career for. Managers constantly seem stressed. Promotions happen based on favoritism, not great work. And new managers are not equipped with training nor provided any guidance. Executives are not transparent, so often managers have little idea about direction.

Pros

Due to my experience, I don't have many positive things to say.

Cons

Management was not good in this headquarters. I was not very fond of the treatment that the supervisors had towards their contracted employees. I graduated with a high GPA from university and know how to learn. In my first role as a distribution engineer, there wasn't any concrete training available to learn how to start and finish a project from start to finish. I would often reach out to get clarification on many concepts I was unfamiliar with and the feedback I received seemed to be too "exhaustive" for my supervisor to explain. Not only that, but when I sent my jobs for review with the small amount of guidance given, they would belittle my designs due to my lack of knowledge that they chose not to reinforce. In my contracted position, the supervisor over me at Georgia Power held the decision for extending contracts for the contractors. I asked twice if my contract was to be extended in order for me to make adequate plans moving forward should my contract not be extended. Both times that I asked for confirmation, I was told that my contract was going to be extended. However, it wasn't until 5 days that my contract would expire that the supervisor told me that they decided to not extend my contract. It was a humiliating and frustrating experience. I expected more from this company and the people they have placed in positions of power.
