Pros

As a graduate student you have the opportunity to obtain a world class engineering degree that will leave you with a variety of different career opportunities. The PhD program provides a challenging platform to develop your analytical and communication skills. Unlike the PhD stereotype, my experience has helped greatly develop both my written and vocal communication skills. The some programs are interdisciplinary and allow students to learn and syntesize concepts from a varitey of traditional disciplines. Georgia Tech also offers a multitude of resources, including business and language classes, which most graduate students can utilize to obtain a well rounded education.

Cons

Like most PhD programs, a timely and successful completion of the degree requires a substantial amount of work after regular hours and during weekends with little monetary compensation. Perspective students need to be aware of the time and financial commitment required.

Pros

- Free Housing - Meal Plan - One of the better on campus job for students in my opinion (still able to be involved in other activities as a student on campus)

Cons

- Duty part of the job (Being on call and getting late night lock outs but this is rare), and definitely can still do homework in between doing duty rounds - experience can also depend on your hall director / area (but regardless still served on great RA teams, can be great if you have a co-ra but also been good at time being a single RA on the floor (no need to coordinate schedule if you do events together as a single RA unless you alternate events with your co)
