Pros

I worked at Gresham Search for over 3 years between 2015 and 2018. Having worked in the industry for almost 10 years before joining I found the ethos of honesty and transparency refreshing. The founder and managing director of the firm is one of the strongest head-hunters in the industry, commercially astute and strategically excellent. Tight cost control and high-performance expectations means that this is a small but cash rich business. Gresham Search has a market leading infrastructure, from the IT systems to the processes in place for training and development. Working at Gresham Search there was a genuine opportunity to take ownership of a business area and earn equity in the business itself. During my time working there I became a better head-hunter through understanding my strengths and weaknesses better. That is a result of honest and transparent appraisal, which is a key strength of the business founder. I have many contacts across the industry and I know I earnt far above the industry standard for my level of performance.

Cons

Not every employee is open to honest and transparent appraisal and not every business founder is a human capital specialist.

Pros

Not sure if the previous review was for the correct company. There is no uniform per se and the location by Liverpool Street station was obviously great. That's about it.

Cons

The environment was one of fear, intimidation and recrimination. It is a small company and probably always will be. The staff were harassed and belittled until they finally broke down, that includes myself as well as my previous numbers and the recruiters (although they tend to last somewhat longer, probably due to better wages as an incentive) When taking the job I was promised a progressive start up recruitment firm looking to open a sister office in New York. This is still yet to happen, probably because the owner Chris Wall can't trust his own staff. Promises of big bonuses and business trips were quickly replaced with shouting and threats. I later found out that no other administrator had made it past the 6 month probation before leaving of being fired. It took me a few months to regain my self belief after leaving this company, but I've since found a position paying far better and with a much friendlier environment. Stay clear of this sociopath.
