Pros
Cool office building. State of the art technology, some awesome co-workers, SONOS Speakers around the office
Cons
In theory Groove is a great place to work. an awesome office, and a fun industry. In reality though, Groove leaves a lot to be desired. At least 20 people have left Groove (left, not fired) in the past year, and in a company of maybe 30 employees, that’s a ridiculously high turnover rate. I’ve seen talented people leave or be passed over in favor of friends of the CEO. Unless you’re previously a friend of the CEO, or focus more on sucking up than doing quality work, you can’t move up within the company. Instead of offering bonuses and competitive wages, Groove spends their money on a holiday party, with mostly the CEO’s friends. On multiple occasions we were bribed with parties to post favorable reviews about the company to combat the negative ones written by clients (see Yelp, Best Places to Work... and even this site). There's a system in place for recommendations and anonymous feedback, but whenever offered, the responses from management were combative and canned. There is a clear lack of communication between the sales team and the rest of the company, as often during client calls, they will mention goals and tasks that fall far outside of the allocated hours, or spectrum of work, and when those ridiculous goals aren't met, it's the Dev and Marketing teams who get blamed and scolded, instead of looking at the whole process.
