Cons
- The CTO is very smart and technical, but has no software engineering experience and it shows any time you try to talk to him.
- The CEO is nice but is unable to define and execute a coherent sales strategy. The company hasn't made a sale in close to two years and most, if not all, of the ARR is derived from leveraging past relationships.
- Both the CEO and CTO lack basic leadership skills; they come off as arrogant and belittling and are not above talking down to others. There is a glaring disconnect between the leaders they want to be, they leaders they think they are, and the leaders they present as.
- Lack of basic tooling, monitoring, and observability. You waste a lot of your time troubleshooting and debugging. When you bring up how this is hampering productivity you're just expected to just work longer hours.
- There is absolutely zero respect for work/life boundaries. It's an early stage startup, sure, but be ready to respond to clearly non-urgent messages after 10pm and on weekends.
- The company has a tech stack that's essentially been duct taped together and clearly has problems scaling, but is determined to double down on it. The product is almost unusable because of this. Projects that should take weeks take months because of these limitations.
