Pros
I have been at Guru for over a year and the honeymoon phase continues. In fact, it keeps getting better and better! The leadership team lives our core values everyday and their positive and respectful energy flows down through the rest of the team. My colleagues are smart and fun, people that I want to hang out with after work. Even my prospects have mentioned how incredible the whole Guru team is to work with. Our product continues to stand out and disrupt the market. We continue to land exciting logos. Being in sales, it keeps me motivated that Guru is solving a critical knowledge problem for customers and they rave about how much they love us. It is also nice that the sales leadership team has continued to invest in ongoing training and making sure the whole sales org is on the same page. Additionally, I have seen the leadership team take feedback from employees to make Guru an even better place to work, ie: adding a 401k, updating the health plans, and improving the maternity leave policies. The leaders really care about the team! I also feel very well supported by our engineering team. They take prospect / customer feedback and move quickly to enhance product features. I'm also excited that we are moving into a bigger and brighter office space in San Francisco very soon. Our little satellite office is growing up!
Cons
The San Francisco office is definitely feeling growing pains. We are bursting at the seams with not enough desks or conference rooms. The timing for a new office starting next month couldn't be better. Open floor plans can be distracting and loud, so hopefully the new office has a better flow and quieter work spaces. On the sales team we are consistently testing out new messaging and demo flows. This could be good or bad depending on your personality. If you find changing environments exciting, and enjoy trying new things and giving constructive feedback to leadership on what is working / not working, then Guru sales will be fun for you. If that will put you outside your comfort zone, Guru is probably not a good fit. The benefits package has been improving YOY and hopefully it will continue to get better and more competitive as we grow. One day a 401k match would be amazing!
