Pros

Just a good atmosphere to work in if you love providing customer service. The days never dragged on because there was always something to do and the work had a purpose and made a clear contribution to the Company>Office>Managers>Tax Pros. I worked with a an excellent team of Tax Professionals who were smart, friendly, diligent, and made me feel like part of the team from the start, even though I was new. Everyone I met, from Corporate Leadership that visited our store, the DGM Theresa, and store manager Andy, to the Tax Pros. were true client advocates and were genuinely interested in providing the best experience for the customers. Another thing, I was able to get the days and hours I asked for and if not, my boss would talk to me first before scheduling or changing the schedule. *Keep in mind I was a seasonal worker as a CSP, working during the busiest time of year for Taxes - from January through April 15, and it was only 3.5 months.

Cons

Well it was tax season so it ramped up and many people waited and filed during the last three days of the season. During the last week before April 15th some clients were grumpy, some in a panic, and others were confused. However, I was prepped for it by my boss and coworkers and given a game plan and it worked out just fine.

Pros

Flexible availability. Path for promotion is obvious and quantified.

Cons

Bonus/commission it is based on level and sales so is low in states without a state tax form. Hourly wage comes out of bonus. Pressure to sell items that don't add to your commission. They push customer surveys but you can be penalized if someone complains about the company, price, amount of emails etc even though you have no control. Some employees are frustratingly low quality and you will spend time helping or fixing their mistakes time that works against your commission. You are expected to answer phones, make appointments, scan, print, take money, help new comers all while maximizing returns. If you take over someone's client and find a mistake you are expected to work against your commission to file amendments peace of mind claims etc.
