Pros

Competitive pay, career opportunities, good attitudes, intelligent peers, great customers. HSS has some very effective biomedical services (depending on the location), and long term satisfied customers. HSS allows technicians to operate independently with little oversight - this is a positive and a negative. HSS is rooted in the local CABMET association.

Cons

Poor benefits, NO work/life balance, and poor management. HSS is reactive, not proactive. Management lacks oversight. Everyone seems to be operating at capacity. New customers are added without taking this into account. Communication is poor between management/sales/other business units. Poor management of technician skills and minimal training. HSS struggles with standardization across the company. Dual standards exist. Average PM workload is usually overwhelming. Technicians can be cliquish, and can struggle to operate as a team if you aren't in the clique. Health insurance and retirement are relatively poor. HSS is very profitable, but rarely gives raises.

Pros

this is a good first job out of college with ways to move up and make more money over a few years, however it does have a cap pretty early on in your career if you choose to stay in the field for a long time. You get to work with really amazing people in the medical field. OR setting is cool too

Cons

I wouldn't say that it is super competitive pay for NYC, however there is a good amount of OT you could do. Also long hours typically 5 days a week in which you do not know what time you will be leaving work everyday so makes it hard to plan anything outside of work during the week. A lot of sitting too.
