They let you schedule sessions with students according to your schedule, the program director is so much fun to work with, and she really does a great job setting up student-tutor matches based on your strengths as a tutor as well as the student's needs.

Being an independent contractor is never great for taxes, but the pay is reasonable enough that it doesn't hurt you too much. You just have to plan ahead and set aside money for taxes as you go.

Good colleagues, fun people to work with; collaborative environment. Honestly, everything was pretty great other than the compensation and the boss.

Boss/owner was a bit of a micro-manager, while also being absent/out-of-the-office 50% of the time. Compensation was a bit below market rate, and considerably less than the billing rate (about 1/6th).
