Pros
Employee benefits are good. The District promotes healthy lifestyles ("Duh" it's a hospital district!). Once you become part of a team, everyone is willing to commiserate with you. There are middle managers and employees who do care a lot about what they're doing.
Cons
Management leadership -- especially in the IT arena -- is lacking. Everyone is too afraid to act upon new recommendations/suggestions for fear of being the one who causes outages/problems. HIPAA and JCAHO compliance causes the District to go ridiculously far past necessary requirements. (Why does an IT person have to take "Patient Bowel Management" compliance training?) The inventiveness or creative ideas guru for the hospital only promotes clinic-side ideas. The back end of the organization needs its infrastructure updated to support the driving force at the front end.
