Pros
As someone who has been at Harris for 10+ years, I can attest to the quality of the company and camaraderie of the work environment. The company publishes 30+ magazines so things are a bit silo'ed between groups. I've been fortunate to work with many of the publishing groups and have only the best things to say about my colleagues. Many people have been here a long time and are true publishing professionals. If you take your work seriously, care about good design and want to be around people who are passionate about what they do, this is the company for you.
I saw some negative reviews about the company and wanted to say I disagree with them. There have been some recent new hires who seem like they're fresh out of college who left after just a few weeks on the job which is where I guess these are coming from. The company expects people to work and be professional and is not a new age place that coddles people with months of training before you're given real work to do.
Each group has its own workflow. Some groups finish their magazines weeks in advance, others are making changes right up to press time. It's a fun, dynamic atmosphere.
I started here early in my career and have risen through the ranks. As a new hire, you need to hit the ground running. If you're passionate about the brands you work on and producing great content, this is the place for you.
